fertilisantYour lawn needs to absorb nutrients from the soil in order to grow. If the soil’s reserve of nutrients isn’t maintained through fertilization, your lawn will suffer. The poorer the reserve of nutrients in the soil, the weaker you lawn will be.

The vast majority of soils are poor in nitrogen and potassium, which are essential to your lawn’s health. Balanced fertilization will ensure a strong, dense, and healthy lawn that is better equipped to resist diseases, insects, and weeds.

carottageYes. Aeration rejuvenates the soil. Things like clay content, a thick layer of thatch, rain and irrigation, and heavy traffic can all contribute to soil compaction.

We recommend you aerate the soil once a year. The best time to do this is in the spring or fall.

We recommend you leave those bits on the surface of your lawn. They’ll disintegrate when it rains. This is considered a top dressing that is good for your lawn.

defeutrageNo. Dethatching removes the accumulated organic material that hasn’t decomposed. You only have to dethatch when the layer of thatch is too thick.

Every year, if the layer of thatch is thicker than 1.2 cm, you should dethatch it down to a thickness of 1.2 cm.

If you’re laying sod, we recommend you use a fertilizer that promotes root development.

One month after laying the sod, you can fertilize a second time and start weeding, if necessary.

ensemencementThe ideal time for seeding a lawn is either in the spring or fall.

In the spring, we recommend seeding in mid-May to mid-June. For a fall seeding, we suggest mid-August to mid-September.

pelouse a l ombreYour lawn probably consists of a type of grass that is better suited to sunny conditions.

There are several different types of lawn grasses, each adapted to different conditions. Look for seed mixes that are recommended for shady areas. They contain a higher percentage of fine fescue, a very shade-tolerant grass.

quantite eau pelouseYour lawn needs 3 to 5 cm of water per week during the growing season if it doesn’t rain.

Be careful! Short, frequent watering causes shallow roots, which could be damaged by temperature extremes.

hauteur tonteCut to a height of 4 to 5 cm in the spring. Once the temperature has reached 250C and above, cut to 7 cm.

Cutting too short makes your lawn vulnerable to dryness, disease, insects, weeds, and damage caused by foot traffic.

If the clippings are long, you should collect them or they will create shade. If your lawn is dense and healthy and the clippings are 1 to 3 cm in length, you can leave them.

However, you should always collect the clippings, no matter how long they are, if the weeds in your lawn are seeding. If you don’t, you will be inadvertently “reseeding” these weeds throughout your lawn.

Soil injection gets the fertilizer right where you want it—into the root ball of the trees and shrubs you want fertilized. It also means that you lose less fertilizer from runoff.

fruitier taillePruning is essential and should be done once a year.

How you prune will be affected by factors including the purpose of the tree (production or decoration), the type of tree (apple, cherry, plum), the type of rootstock, available space, and wind direction.

You will very rarely notice the effects of spraying on the first day. Synthetic pesticides act slowly, except in optimal conditions (like in the spring).

Within a few days, weeds will start drying out around the edges of their leaves and will be completely withered after ten to fourteen days.

You can if it was only fertilized.

You can’t if it was treated with an herbicide and/or pesticide. In those cases, we suggest you wait 24 hours. The technician will provide you with treatment information either with your bill or in a separate flyer.
